Your household, kept private
Privacy policy
Kita helps a private household coordinate chores, groceries, schedules and money. This policy explains what the service handles and the choices available to you.
Effective 18 August 2026
Kita does not sell personal information, serve targeted advertising or use household content for advertising profiles.
Information you provide
- Account details such as your name, email address, password credential and profile photo.
- Household details, membership, roles, chores, grocery lists, calendar entries, check-ins and relationship notes.
- Financial records you choose to add, including expenses, income, budgets, bills, payment reminders and wallet labels. Kita does not ask for online banking passwords.
- Content you submit to chat, receipt images, voice recordings and optional profile or household images.
Information created while you use Kita
- Session, device and push-notification tokens needed to keep you signed in and deliver reminders.
- Activity records such as when a shared item was created, changed or completed.
- Basic technical records needed to diagnose errors, protect the service and prevent abuse.
Optional transaction detection
Automatic transaction detection is off until you turn it on. On Android, the optional Notification Access feature examines notifications on your device for conservative purchase matches. Kita keeps only a normalized review draft, not the raw notification text. On iOS, a Shortcut can send a transaction draft to Kita. Drafts are encrypted on the device, expire after seven days and are not added to your household ledger until you confirm them.
How information is used
- To provide and synchronize the household features you request.
- To authenticate accounts, apply household permissions and keep one household from accessing another household's data.
- To send reminders and service messages you enable.
- To process receipts, transcribe voice and answer chat requests when you use those features.
- To secure, troubleshoot and improve the reliability of the service.
Who can see household content
Members of the same household may see shared content according to their role and the household's visibility settings. A member of another household cannot access it. Before joining a household, check that you recognize the person who shared its invitation.
Service providers
Kita uses providers for hosting, object storage, authentication support, transactional email and push delivery. This may include Cloudflare, Enginemailer, Expo and Google. They receive only the information needed to provide their service and are not permitted to use Kita household content for targeted advertising on our behalf.
AI and speech processing
When you choose chat, receipt reading or voice transcription, Kita uses Qwen models through Alibaba Cloud Model Studio. Depending on the feature, the provider receives your prompt and relevant household context, a receipt image or the voice recording you submit. Voice audio is used to produce a transcript. Receipt reading produces a draft for you to confirm before it is saved.
Kita plans to use Model Studio's Singapore region for these calls. Alibaba Cloud states that request data is stored in Singapore, while encrypted inference may run on international nodes outside the Chinese mainland and transient inference-node data is not persisted. Its current terms state that customer content is not used to develop or improve Model Studio models without separate consent.
Alibaba Cloud does not publish a fixed retention period for content sent through direct API calls. Model-monitoring records are retained for 30 days by default, and optional inference logging can store request and response content when enabled. Before public release, Kita will confirm that inference logging is disabled and obtain the provider's account-specific direct-call retention and deletion terms.
Retention and deletion
We keep account and household information while it is needed to provide Kita. You can delete your account from Settings, then Profile, then Delete account. If you are the last household member, the household and its active service data are deleted with the account. In a shared household, records needed by the remaining members may remain without giving the deleted account continued access. We may retain limited records where required for security, fraud prevention, disputes or law.
Full instructions are available on the account deletion page.
Security
Kita uses encrypted network connections, server-side household authorization and platform-protected credential storage. No system is completely risk-free, so please use a unique password, protect household invite codes and report suspected unauthorized access.
Your choices and rights
You can correct profile information, manage notifications, turn transaction detection off, leave a household or delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, restriction or deletion of personal information.
Children
Kita is designed for private households and is not intended for a child to create an account without the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian where that consent is required.
Contact
For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected]. Do not send your password, household invite code or financial documents by email.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Kita's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be communicated in the app or through another appropriate channel.
